Hello folks! Welcome to my ‘unofficial’ homepage (Please click here for the official website of the Kim Lab). I am Sung Woo Kim living in Raleigh, North Carolina working as a Professor of Nutrition & Digestive Physiology at the Department of Animal Science, North Carolina State University (NCSU).

Besides my job at NCSU, I also serve/served as Adjunct Professor with Department of Animal Science, Texas A&M University (College Station, Texas), Texas Tech University (Lubbock, Texas), Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition, Colorado State University (Fort Collins, Colorado), College of Animal Science and Technology, China Agricultural University (Beijing, China), Nanjing Agricultural University (Nanjing, China), College of Agriculture, Yanbian University (Yanji, China), Shanxi Agricultural University (Taigu, China), and Institute of Subtropical Agriculture of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (Changsha, China). I also served as a Honorary Scientist of Rural Development Administration (Cheonju, Korea).

My story? …  My journey begins from Seoul, Korea where I was born and raised. I moved to Urbana–Champaign, a twin city in Illinois where I lived for 5 years. My first faculty job with Texas Tech University moved me to Lubbock, Texas where I lived for another 6 years and I finally moved to Raleigh, North Carolina for my job with NCSU.

My academic background? … I graduated from Seoul National University where I received Bachelor of Science (1993) and Master of Science (1995) degrees in the field of animal sciences and nutrition. My Ph.D degree is from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1999) where I also worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Animal Sciences (Dr. Robert Easter Lab, until 2000). After my postdoctoral training, I worked as an Assistant Professor of Monogastric Nutrition and Digestive Physiology at Texas Tech University where I was also tenured and promoted to Associate Professor (2001-2007). In 2007, I move to the North Carolina State University as Associate Professor. In 2012, I was promoted to the rank of full Professor at the North Carolina State University and selected as University Faculty Scholar in 2013.

Outside of the university, I serve (served) as Section Editor/Associate Editor/Guest Associate Editor for Journal of Animal Science, Asian Australasian Journal of Animal Science, Animal Nutrition, Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology, Frontiers in Veterinary Science, and Toxins
